Texas-Louisiana Hispanic District Council in Houston, Texas
It was my privilege to attend the Texas-Louisiana Hispanic District Council held in the Omni Hotel in Houston, Texas, in the month of June. We were all blessed by the ministry of the Asst. Gen. Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Rev. Alton Garrison, a dear friend and classmate in our Bible College years at Southwestern. Cyndie and I attended the very first District Council when it was formed from the Gulf Latin American District and have benefited from the enthusiastic missions support of District Superintendent J.R. Rodríguez and a number of the churches from Houston to New Orleans. He is also a front-line supporter of the ministry of Global University as many of the Hispanic ministers are taking advantage of furthering their education in Bible and Theology by distance education while continuing their ministry in their pulpit.
¡Gloria a Dios!
Texas Gulf Hispanic District Council – Weslaco, Texas
The Texas Gulf Hispanic District Council was held in June 2016 in the Valley in the city of Weslaco, Texas, in the beautiful facilities of Templo Ebenezer A/D church under the leadership of our dear friend Dino Espinosa who has so capably served the District since its inception. We were greatly blessed by the ministry of the worship team and the anointed ministry of the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God of Mexico, Rev. Abel Flores Acevedo. Brother Flores informed us that there are now over 8,000 churches of the A/G in Mexico! Praise the Lord. Rev. Eddie De La Rosa was newly elected as the District Superintendent, Rev. Rick Reyes as the new Asst. Superintendent and Director of Missions for the District and Maricela Hernández was re-elected as Secretary-Treasurer.
We were honored to be able to address the congregation at the Missions Banquet along with two other missionary units. We felt a wonderful response and deeply appreciate all of the support that our ministry receives from the churches and pastors of this great District!
North Texas District Council celebrates its Centennial
The North Texas District Council celebrated its Centennial in June as it met on the campus of Southwestern A/G University in Waxahachie, Texas. It was certainly a memorable occasion crowned by a marvelous presence of the Holy Spirit in every service. There was a tremendous kick-off on Sunday evening with an overflow crowd with Missionary/Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke ministering. A 100% Pentecostal minister whose ministry, especially focused on Africa, has led literally millions to accept Jesus as personal Savior, who exhorted the crowd “If you want original results you need to preach the original Gospel with the original power of the Holy Spirit!”
Among the many pioneers and heroes of the faith honored on this occasion was my Aunt Louise Jeter Walker, the iconic missionary educator and author who wrote “The Great Questions of Life”. The time of congregational worship was some of the best that I have ever seen in a District Council with total participation and no generational gaps between worship leaders & congregants. Praise the Lord! We are proud and honored to have been foreign missionaries with the North Texas District for over 44 years and going strong into our 45th!
